Reading

Why Read

The Westfield Athenaeum is a great resource for borrowing books! If they do not have the books you are looking for, check out their online catalog to request books from other libraries! They also have many audiobooks in the library as well as on the website to download. Audiobooks are great to use for an afternoon quiet time or on car rides!

Our class also has a Scholastic Book Club page! Check it out on the page link to the left!

Sight Word Practice

High Frequency Words or Sight Words are commonly used words that children are encouraged to memorize as a whole word by sight, rather than looking at letter sounds or spelling patterns. Often, these words are irregular words that do not follow regular spelling patterns. Students should be able to automatically read sight words we have practiced.
